Professional Code of Conduct
While my day job precludes me from working as a Humanist Chaplain in an official capacity and within an institutional setting, for all of my services, I abide by both the Humanist Society Ethical Code of Conduct and the Humanist Society Chaplain Covenant.
Weddings
Elopement
Bring two witnesses and your marriage license, and meet with the officiant at a public location Downtown where he will perform the minimum requirements to solemnize your marriage.
Short and Sweet
This service is facilitated entirely by the officiant. It can take place at an outdoor or public/private location. You will need to have your marriage license and at least two additional people who can act as witnesses. The couple can read vows they have written, or read vows provided by the officiant.
Standard Service
For this ceremony, which includes the exchange of vows and rings, the couple will select from a standard list of options for each part of the ceremony. You will need to have your marriage license and at least two additional people who can act as witnesses. Available options include religious, humanist, and secular elements.
Personalized Ceremony
In addition to selecting from a list of available options for each part of a standard service, this ceremony includes personalized elements based upon details about the couple's relationship and can include one or two additional small ceremonies, like a wine ceremony, candle ceremony, or sand ceremony. You will need to have your marriage license and at least two additional people who can act as witnesses. The expectation for this level of service is that the ceremony will be uniquely suited to the couple. The base price includes a short telephone consultation, and the selection and personalization from available ceremony elements.

The expectation for this level of service is that the ceremony will be uniquely suited to the couple. The base price includes a short telephone consultation, and the selection and personalization from available ceremony elements.
- Fee: $250 ($125 deposit required)
- Rehearsal is available for an additional fee of $100.
- One small ceremony (wine, candle, sand ceremony) included. A second small ceremony can be added for an additional $50.

Travel Charges
- Travel to an event within the City of Syracuse, NY (not including any of the outlying towns, villages, or suburbs) is at no charge. Otherwise, travel is based on round-trip mileage from my home to the venue, and will be charged at 25 cents per mile.
- Total round trip travel time in excess of 30 minutes for an event will be subject to $8 per quarter hour, rounded up.

I offer a 10% discount on all services to:
- Active Duty and Veteran's.
- LGBTQ+ couples.
- Members of the American Humanist Association.
NOTE: Discounts are not cumulative. Only one eligible discount will be applied to an invoice. Discounts are to fees, not travel charges.
Pastoral ServicesCelebrants for the Humanist Society have the full rights and responsibilities of ordained clergy and are authorized to attend to the pastoral and ceremonial needs of Humanists and all others seeking these services. Kit is available to provide pastoral services as time and circumstances permit.
